Midwest Monday

I found inspiration from my country roots for this look. I grew up on a farm in the heart of the Midwest, Wisconsin.
Plaid, leather and some Croc embossing does the trick!

Now that it's spring you never know what weather you'll get. Layering is key to survival this time of year! I usually do light layers with fun textures and colors.

My vintage cowl neck sweater vest was found at St. Vinnies in Madison. I love thrift shopping for newer and vintage items. The excitement is in never knowing what you'll find! As you can see I layered that with some new items like my plaid button down and sparkly sweater from Express.

This leather vintage Brighton bag reminds me of a saddle, rich brown leather a fun braided strap and the chunky hardware is very cowboy chic. My Bed|Stu boots really give my look a western twist. Their toe box is more square than round and long similar to cowboy boots. I got mine from (shoo) the fall before last. If you are looking for more western styled boots I would definitely check out what else Bed|Stu has to offer.

A close up of the Croc embossing was necessary! :) Also this bag has an awesome strap and is the perfect size! I found it at a Goodwill in Green Bay, WI while I was there late last week and for only 10 bucks! One last thing that makes this bag perfectly Midwest is the huge silver buckle with etching! Looks just like a bull riders belt ;)

In my opinion, warmer weather brings more western and festival inspired looks! make sure you get some fun western inspired pieces before summer arrives!

A Few shades of Grey

I'm a big fan of the color grey. Pairing grey, black and white are easy and the monochromatic look is sophisticated. If you want a sleek sexy look but not too edgy go all grey instead of black! Below I paired different shades of grey and black for an easy workwear outfit.

I was so excited to wear this new UO Skirt! I couldn't wait to wear it so I paired it with some tights and a sweater, but this will also be a great summer piece! The shimmery satin material will go with almost everything.

The ever cool Cortona from John Fluevog is classic and funky. I was lucky enough to find these guys secondhand from Re Threads in Madison. My love for this brand started while working at (shoo). We carry awesome styles from Mr. Fluevog all year round :)

Hats are one of my newly found favorite accessories! The black wool Express hat I got a couple of years ago featured above is sophisticated and a statement piece. Just be cautious on windy days! ;)

Yes, even my jewelry and nails were different shades of grey! I had a lot of fun with this outfit. Sometimes completing a look from head to toe can make you feel like a boss and on top of the world! It's amazing how a good outfit can effect your day :)

The cool handmade rings above can be found on my Etsy :)

Whats your new found favorite accessory?

Moody Mother Nature

Yesterday morning I woke up to snow! If that doesn't make your Monday a little moody I don't know what will! But you have to make the best of it, so I pulled out my tall bed|stu boots before Spring starts up in full force and it gets too warm to wear them. Good news is that the sun came out in time for a pleasant walk home :)

Because it was a brisk walk to and from work I wore one of my hand-knit pieces from Pointelle Design. I almost always wear headbands! I put my hair up a lot so they are definitely
a go to for me, but as you can see they are cute with your hair down too!

I had fun pairing a patterned shirt and statement necklace together. The smooth shinny shapes of the necklace reminded me of the material of the shirt I was wearing. I find dots and stripes to be a good combo more often than not.

I did enjoy wearing my cream Calvin Klein jacket again. It's a cute twist on a winter jacket and I also like that it is dressy. It has a pleated bottom and the waist tie is also flattering, that can be a nice quality on a jacket during those colder months so you can show off that figure a little!

These boots are blue, no red, wait purple? I never know... the Warmer boot from bed|stu that I am wearing above has leather that is dyed differently on two different sides and has slices in the leather so depending on what angle you are looking at it determines the color you see! Such a cool idea! it was love at first sight :)

Let's hope mother nature isn't too moody with us in the future! We are in need of a wardrobe change here in Wisconsin ;)

Young, Wild and Fiorentini

Happy Sunday!
Some Sundays all you want to do is dress comfortably, but to me that doesn't mean you still can't rock a fun outfit. My Sunday outfit was a bit sassy. I wore some camo, statement jewelry, a fun new top from Urban, and you can't forget my always fabulous Fiorentini + Baker boots :) These boots were made for stylish Sundays! Well any day of the week is perfect too because they are sooo comfortable and clearly beautiful.

My bag is a vintage army messenger bag I have had for a while. It's a cool one of a kind canvas bag that worked well with the colors and textures I already had going on in my outfit.

F+B boots cost a pretty penny but I think that they are well worth it. Like I was saying earlier they are comfortable and I always feel good wearing them. If I'm having a hard time picking out shoes, this brand is a great go to for me!

I thought it would be fun to bring back feather hair clips for the day to top off the wild side of this look! I think the top has a earthy feel to it so I wanted something a little more down to earth to pair with it, like the camo, the hint of pattern worked well with the other large solid piece.

I also had fun with my jewelry selection :) A mix of new and old! My bracelet and larger silver necklace are both my mothers vintage pieces that are now mine, the other short necklace is newer and I handcrafted the rings. I have been into layering short necklaces as of late, give it a try sometime!

This was most definitely a cozy but cute sunday outfit, especially nice because I went to work today. The train on the shirt is youthful and fun, it brought out a bit of my wild side :)

Neon Brights

If you're having a hard time picking out something to wear, slip into a black on black ensemble then pair that with a statement necklace and you are ready to go! Or, toss on a pop of color to create a high contrast combo. That's just what I did today! Very easy and in my opinion easy to pull off. A fun colored purse, shoes or smaller accessory would be another great way to complete this look.

My lace nighty was purchased from a local Madison store called Good Style Shop! They specialize in great vintage pieces for men and women. I just checked out their store and they have a lot of fun lace you can wear to welcome spring and summer :)

My nails were also a little pop of color! Above I'm wearing Gotta Have It from Urban Outfitters, and of coarse I'm sporting some of my handmade jewelry.

These comfy and awesome black booties are made by a brand called Trippen. Its a German company and they have some pretty cool designs that are well made and great for everyday wear. Another thing I love about this bootie is their rubber cross heel!

Give a dramatic pop of color a try sometime, you'll see how effortless it is to get a great all day look!

Springing 70's back

Welcome Back Spring!! I have been waiting for this day for weeks...no months! Sometimes when I dress for the warmer weather I tend to wear 70's inspired looks, So a vintage floral top and white flared pants from Urban seemed appropriate.

This was a fun outfit to pick out. I wanted to wear something that screamed spring! White and light colors have been neglected these past few winter months, it just felt right pulling those lace pants out from hiding :)

I also sported some pretty fun green glasses that mainly hung from my shirt to complement the green in the paisley pattern. My bracelets purchased at (shoo) from local artists matched almost perfectly with the colors of my top too!

And why not pair some tan distressed bed|stu booties with the cream pants? The two colors together welcome warmer weather, not to mention they are comfy and gave me the height I needed to pull of wearing those pants! :)

Thanks for reading! And Hello Spring!

Winter's Edge

Today was the last official day of winter and it inspired my look today. I change my style a lot throughout the year and even throughout one season and because we were on winter's edge today... why not dress edgy?!

I always feel like a bad ass while wearing the John Fluevog Preets I got from (shoo)!  It was easy for me to pick out my shoes for this edgy look... I also have had a pair of leggings with a small hole in the upper thigh for some time now, so I decided to give the torn legging trend a try. I hadn't been wearing the leggings anyway... so I went to work. I learned it was easier to make the holes WHILE wearing the leggings, for those of you who may want to give it a try!

I kept the top half of my outfit a little more simple. A white and black graphic tee with fashion capitals from Urban Outfitters seemed simple enough :) I also wore a long sweater from Jack, found secondhand.

Even while looking tough I had to wear pink nail polish going into spring tomorrow! It's Sally Hansen Miracle Gel in Rosey Riviter. To give my outfit even more edge I wore 6 rings and geometric studs, all made by yours truly. Check out some more of my handmade jewelry on my Etsy Shop.

And now a beauty shot of the Fluevog Preets.

Thanks for Reading! Don't forget to wear something to celebrate the first official day of spring tomorrow! Maybe something floral or a dress and tights??
