I had the pleasure of meeting Karlee, a wonderful photographer that I grew up not to far from but our paths never met until last month. She wanted to get to know me before we started our fashion filled session, and now I wanted to give you the chance to know me a little better
I grew up in a small town where fashion was jeans and cut off shirts and if you really wanted to look nice you put on a button down Hollister shirt before going to school. I always felt like I needed more, that fashion was a way to express yourself, not fit in.
As I got older I started not to care and I wanted to wear the wild prints from the runway and the silhouettes that the models wore and I decided to move to Madison and study Fashion Marketing at Madison College. There was where I thrived. Dressing as I pleased and not worrying about what style group I fit into. I wore what fit my mood that day whether it was vintage or new.
After graduation I still wanted a little more, I had always wanted to design but never got in the habit of using a sewing machine. I was also working at (shoo) and had been for a while so I decided to start and make jewelry that I could sell at the store. I took classes at MATC and now I sell jewelry at both (shoo) locations and on my Etsy! I have had great opportunities while working with the lovely owners of (shoo) and they have further invested me into the fashion industry!
Now onto the outfit! This look also helps explain a little bit more about me and my style, but like I said... I don't really have one! I do however like to dress like a artsy and fashionable middle aged women sometimes. Maybe that's a style category? It could be the influential women who shop at (shoo) that are starting to rub off on me, but whatever it is I like it. Sometimes loose layers are a must and you just have to rock it!
I borrowed some SWEET TOMS shades from the shop for this shoot to finish off the look. I grabbed the Luisa because like my boyfriend would say, I like to look like a bug :) I personally really like their eyewear and they are always coming out with a new style!
I wore some handmade jewelry of my own and some from other local artists that can be found at (shoo). Pointelle Design has some pretty cute new button earrings and A Birch for Monday uses a lot of stone and chain jewelry like my necklace that make for a timeless piece. My mustard headband is also from Pointelle Design :)
My lovely high-low long sleeve was purchased from Urban Outfitters on State and my crazy cool pants I found at Banana Republic.
My always comfy shoes above are Trippen from (shoo). They are a German brand that specializes in funky style and great quality.
It's always good to have yummy coffee in hand and great shoes on your feet :)
Thank you for reading!
