Best of 2015 pt 1

Today is the last day of JUNE! It's crazy how fast this year is going by. I want to do a little time travel Tuesday action to share some of my favorite looks so far from 2015!

March

Not only was this outfit cute and functional I wore it to my sisters baby shower! At the time we did not know the sex of her baby, but now we do! Baby Brantley is 2 months old now with chubby cheeks!

This was the first time I wore my Bed|Stu Claire sandals for the blog! I wanted it to be a gladiator inspired look. I finally found the perfect dress at St. Vinnie's on Willy St.

This outfit is one of my favorites for a couple of reasons, one- I love my Fiorentini + Baker boots two- this outfit was perfect for March three- I loved wearing that high/low shirt for the first time :)

Hats have been an accessory that I have been using more and more this year! I think the hat really brought this look together. I am also a big fan of John Fluevog, which is the brand of shoes featured in this look.

April

This look makes the list because of it's bright colors and because, well.... my bunny got involved :)

I was really happy about a few new items when I put this look together back in April so this outfit still stands out as a favorite. My shades, necklace, purse and dress were all new items that I had recently purchased. I also had fun giving a Coachella themed look a midwest twist :)

I had purchased yet another pair of Fiorentini + Baker boots and again I was in love! They are so comfortable and fierce! I also really enjoyed wearing the asymmetrical tank

I did a little DIY action do make the dress worn in this look. I simply made a maxi dress a bit shorter, but for late April this length was great. This look also featured a lot of green grass for the first time this year :)

May

This look was a lot of fun, and it's great for just hanging out! Literally ;) P.S. the leather sneakers featured are com-fy *finger snap

I worked from the boots up for this look because it was National Fluevog Day! Don't forget what I said earlier... I really like that brand. I also snatch a cool handmade bag from (shoo) to complement the outfit.

June

This post is near and dear to my heart because I went with a vintage inspired look to celebrate my grandmothers 92nd birthday! Of corse it was very cute also :)

I had the chance to work with Karlee of Karlee Mikkelson Photography and it was a great time! this was the first look we shot together and I still have more to share! I was also able to write more about my love for fashion.

I love the edgy look but comfortable style of this outfit. I also rocked my new sandals and Wiskullsin graphic tee, the coffee also helps :)

I had a lot of fun putting a full week of denim looks together (recently posted) for the first official week of Summer this June! I can't wait to share more fashion tips and ideas, cheers to the rest of summer and the rest of 2015!

Denim Dayz: classics

It's been a great week of denim here on the blog! A great way to start off the summer!
My last look of the Denim Dayz of Summer is classic. I wore a Levi's denim jacket and DIY vintage jean cutoff shorts.

I was really happy with how these high waisted shorts turned out! I made them just the night before! I found a pair of jeans that fit the waist and through the hips, then cut straight across the legs 4 inches down the inseam. Then I used a scissors to drag across the bottoms to tear off about another inch to shorten the length of the shorts. The next thing I did was drag the scissors across the jeans to make a few distressed spots. The final step to really give them the worn look is to put them in the washer and dryer!

So my outfit wasn't too casual I wore layered gold necklaces and my metallic Trippen sandals. I also grabbed my fringe Bed|Stu bag and EXPRESS shades to polish off the summer look! The line studs are some of my newest studs again that will be on my Etsy soon!

Thank you for reading!
I hope you found some denim inspiration for summer this last week :)

Denim Dayz: vintage stripes

As you can see I already have red, white and blue on my mind! A week early but hey, these colors are also great for summer. This cute vintage dress was found in my mother's closet, which is filled with gems! That is where I end up finding most of my favorite vintage pieces.

I chose to wear heels with this look so that the dress wouldn't look to "frumpy". I also added the red belt to really tighten up the waistline, with the dress being so long and flowy at the bottom, these are accessories I would always add!

My shoes and matching clutch are Nine West that I purchased in New York a few years back, and needless to say they are still a staple in my closet :) I wear a lot of silver jewelry and oddly enough one of my favorite colors are white!
My vintage floral bracelet is also a great find from back home and my rings and earrings are some of my very own that I make. The bar/line studs are a new design of mine that will be on my Etsy soon :)

Denim Dayz: Dress it up

The week of denim is winding down. Wearing denim in a formal way had to be done! The look below is great for work in the summer, then hitting Wednesday night concert on the square after :)

My vintage silk button down top dressed up my vintage denim skirt, most tops that have a collar will do this too. I found this cute little woven tote today at St. Vincent de Paul on Willy street, it not only looks great but is functional as well, for picnics or like I said earlier concert on the square. I also wore my Lotta from Stockholm clogs that are super comfortable and paired really nicely with the length of my skirt. They also give off a great summer vibe!

Surprise! Bandeau top underneath! I chose a denim bandeau to wear under my work appropriate shirt so that I could make the look more like a two for one deal. Being able to shed a layer and change a look is a great "lifestyle" hack. You never know when a fun summer event will pop up last minute and you want to go straight there and not worry about going back home first to change. My advise would be to do light layers or roll up a different shirt that will easily fit into your purse or bag that day!

Denim Dayz: Acid Wash

Light almost white acid washed jeans are a great way to add denim to you summer outfits. Mine have holes in them, which is a good way to keep you cool and not get too hot, the light colored denim will also help when out in the sun. Whites and light colored attire is great to wear during the summer, so why not pair acid washed denim and whites to make a fabulous look?

I had a little bit of a rough morning, consumed a lot of caffeine and ended up rocking a solid look at the end of it all. I changed my shirt multiple times today with the first change forced by stained clothing. That actually was a turn for the better. I ended up with the white combo featured and a huge smile grew on my face when I finally paired the distressed jeans with the classy sweater combo. That's when you know it's meant to be :)

Accessories were simple today, mainly because of my stressful morning so I grabbed a handful of jewelry favorites to make it through the day! It's always a good idea to know where your favorite pieces are at all times so when you find yourself in a pinch you can grab them on the go!
I wore my Pointelle Design button studs for a pop of color and they have cute little patterns too :) I also managed to snatch my favorite vintage necklace and new Banana Republic shades. My Chocolat Blu platform sliders are a great go to shoe for the summer. They can be dressy or casual and in this outfit they dress it up a bit and give it a very everyday kinda vibe.

Denim Dayz: Style and Structure

Denim Dayz part 3!
I found an old Gilly Hicks denim corset in my closet and I was so excited to wear it! It isn't a traditional corset with the lace up back but it does have an elastic section on the back so it fits nice and snug with some structure. The light denim worked perfectly with my floral H&M shorts! :)

I didn't wear a lot of jewelry with this outfit, I was so focused on my cool shorts and denim top, but I did manage to wear my fresh resin and wood stud earrings from BoldB in Australia! As always I wore sterling silver Lacey Amber Jewelry also.
To dress the look up a little I slipped into my Miz Mooz micro heels I got from (shoo)! The grey and brown leather matches almost anything!

If I pick out an item of clothing that is more structured or fitted I tend to pair it with something else less fitted or relaxed. I find that a mix of the two complement each other and sometimes wearing all tight clothes can be a drag... so the high waisted shorts were a way to keep my outfit more functional for all day wear!
