Like a Boy

Fall will be here before you know it! The rest of you midwest fashionistas may have had a taste of that as well the last couple of days.  As much as I don't want winter to start.... I love me some new boots! I wanted to sport a casual almost mens inspired look to show off my new kicks!
I wore ripped up light denim to keep the look from getting to fall forward in August, but here in Madison we had some mid 60 degree weather! My men inspired booties from Circus are a great balance between Masculine and Feminine. The double monk strap is a traditional formal mens look, but added to the pointed silhouette and heel it transforms into an edgy accessory! I also have to point out the accent of pony fur to really take these boots to the next level!
As you already know I almost always wear one of my own jewelry creations! My edgy "tassel" necklace is up on my Etsy along with my stud earrings. The minimal vibes from the metal jewelry only add the the boyish flare.

M is for Metallic

Happy Metallic Monday!
I love, love, love the color of my vintage skirt I was lucky enough to find second hand. With some slight alterations to the waistline and some edgy heels it transforms this look into something fierce!
It's great to have a few basic and comfortable tees on hand for casual days paired with jeans or to dress them up like I did here. Using a casual tee with a skirt gives off more of an everyday look rather than a formal one. I also wore a simple elastic belt to hold the skirt in place and to cinch the waistline a bit.

The high waisted, A-line skirt is very bold but so are my accessories so they too can get in on some of the spotlight. My Nine West shoes are neutral and share the same tones as my skirt along with giving off a gladiator flare. The red leather purse gives a nice pop of color to the look and the contrast it creates with the skirt is perfect! I also threw in there a statement necklace and trendy bug eye shades from Express.

Classic Chick

Yesterday I wore a very basic and classic look. A button down tee paired with simple sandals and a maxi skirt. The simple color combo and classic silhouettes made an effortlessly chic look, and those colorful clouds defiantly made for a great shot :)
Not only does this outfit have a tasteful minimal look, it also has vintage vibes as well. My denim vintage button down and briefcase style purse gives this outfit a masculine flare that contrasts well against the feminine cream skirt.

These minimal and classic black leather sandals really do finish off any outfit. The simplicity adds to this look because it ties in so nicely with the total style.

I was simple from head to toe, including my jewelry. I wore very basic sterling rings and earrings and a gold and cream vintage necklace.

Summer Fresh

White in the Summer time gives off cute fresh vibes!
Instead of picking out the usual black on black outfit that is edgy and comforting I chose to go a different route. White on white is fresh and best worn (in my opinion) during the Summer while we have more color to our skin here in Wisconsin. The biggest challenge when wearing white is keeping it clean all day!
My Lotta from Stockholm Highwood clogs finish this look off by giving it a formal flare. If the cutoff jean shorts would have be worn with flat sandals my outfit would have looked more casual and not as chic. Also wearing the embroidered top helps dress up the style.
These clogs are great for all day use and the sand wipes right off :)
Hats are a great accessory for summer! They're cute, fuctional and defiantly fashionable. I just picked up my white Calvin Klein fedora at second hand store with the original tag on it!
Start wearing your whitest whites before Summer is over!

The Midwest Bandit

Happy August Everyone!
Summer is in full swing! I like to wear a lot of loose layers during this time of year. Don't you just hate it when your clothes get all stuck to you and uncomfortable on those muggy days? Me too...
The look below is flowy but still flattering by showing off some skin. I like to experiment with my attire and a way I did that with this look is the use of a hankie in place of a necklace. I sometimes use larger hankies instead of belts.
So behold, the edgy bandit look.
I like to combine an array of muted colors in some of my looks, primarily during the fall, but these colors transition well with day to night looks also. The muted tones continue into the accessories with tortoise Banana Republic shades, a vintage military canvas bag and black pointy booties.
Trying to keep the bandit feel throughout the whole look I wore some vintage Mootsies Tooties Chelsea boots with some western flare. They are a very low ankle bootie that can be paired with many things not only in fall and winter but all year round like I did with this look pairing them with shorts.
I kept my face looking fresh and polished and wore simple jewelry. The whole look consisted of simple easy to wear layers.
