Floral Fix

I often find things while thrift shopping that have great patterns but the fit is slightly off. My floral dress in the look below was originally a maxi and had shoulder pads in it. A little to House on the Prairie for my taste, but the floral patter was too cute, so I had to keep it. After removing the shoulder pads and cutting about a foot off the bottom I could keep the vintage floral pattern but not the old school fit.

Adding the nude leather belt helped modernize the shape of the dress along with mixing vintage and new items throughout the whole look. Lacey Amber Jewelry, a vintage leather purse and a light weight button down pulled my outfit together for a great work to dinner look.

My Bed|Stu gladiator Sandals were a great neutral shoe to tie it all together, they also were very close in color to my extra layering piece and pattern in the dress. perfection.

Do you have any thrift finds that need to be updated? I kept the bottom of my dress intact while cutting it and got an infinity scarf out of the deal as well!

A little Fierce around the edges

I'm just going to start out saying that I love wearing any of my Fiorentini+Baker boots. They are always comfortable and look good with almost anything. I worked from the ground up while picking out this fierce but feminine outfit.

I love the look of this asymmetrical Philosophy tank that I was lucky enough to find at Goodwill!
Adding the striped shorts to this outfit gave it a softer appearance and not so edgy, which of corse all looked good with the heeled leather boots. The shorts wet re a nice touch as well because they prevented me from getting so hot while wearing taller leather boots!

My jewelry for this outfit was a mix of vintage and my own handmade jewelry. I wanted some simple but yet artsy bling to add to the  simplicity of the look.
I also wore a black leather, studded Bed|Stu belt to really keep the party going!

The Fiorentini+Baker Billie boot is a staple at (shoo)! I have gotten all of my F+B boots from there and I would recommend the investment! Their high quality leather creates a comfortable but yet sexy boot that will be a go to in your closet!

Foxy Lady

My new Sock It To Me Fox socks inspired this look! It is one of the brands newest additions that I got from (shoo) in Madison. Check out the rest of this casual but foxy look below :)

I chose to keep this outfit simple and focus on the feet! So I wore a Truly Madly Deeply long sleeve high/low top from Urban Outfitters with denim shorts. Both solid simple colors and the cream is repeated again in the socks and shoes.

The high/low top is long for me so I tend to wear it with a little bit of a heel. I picked out my  comfy Bed|Stu heeled oxfords that pair nicely with Mr. Fox's bow tie :)

Go out and get a pair of fun funky socks!

Formalish

Let's keep this post short and sweet. Formal attire in the spring and summer can be hard. You want to show some skin but not too much and you also don't want to get too hot! So here is my solution... have some fun with it!

I wore a long fitted grey skirt, very professional ;) and a fun cropped top. I went with more of a color block theme but you could do the same with a patterned sleeveless crop top and a long simple skirt. I coordinated the colors of my shoes, shirt and purse to all work together. I also used a large cute hankie as a belt as you can see below for a little more color.

It can still be chilly when the sun isn't out this time of year so I brought along a jean jacket to use as a layer so my outfit wouldn't get to formal and the denim kept the fun summer vibe alive!

I wore some ultra comfy CHIO shoes from (shoo) that are great because of the platform and leather straps. I can get some height without my feet being at such a steep angle.

I wore a vintage necklace because almost all of my other clothing were vintage! I did tie in some of my new handmade Jewelry too.

Here's a helpful hint: I have been stacking different shaped rings to make them look almost as one! I have done this almost everyday with the combination below because I think is looks so chunky and cool! I think mixing different ring band thicknesses is what really makes it a fun way to wear all of your favorite rings.

Madison Safari

We have had some pretty great weather the past few days! It's a perfect time to get out and explore the town. I went on a little morning bike ride yesterday near the lake and found a waterfront view where I could see the Capitol building.
So why not put on some cute clothes and soak up some sun on beautiful days like these!

I was so happy to finally wear my Banana Republic shorts with safari scenes on them. They were the inspiration for the rest of the outfit. The shorts led the way for the colors I chose and the lightweight GAP layer, that to me looked like I should be out in a safari caravan!

You gotta go with a vintage Dooney for your purse with an outfit like this! Rich brown leather trim and  the duck detail was another great way to incorporate animals in this look.

These cute shoes above are handmade and better yet in the US of A! You can find the Cydwoq factory in the golden state of California. Handcrafted goodness with a modern flare! Mine were purchased from  (shoo)

I wore all vintage gold jewelry to help accent the warm brown tones in my outfit. I also had painted my nails a neutral color specifically for this outfit to match the colors in my shorts!
oh the little things in life :)

I hope all of you get some quality outdoors time now that Spring is upon us!

Coachella Chic

Coachella 2015 was this weekend and not all of us could be there to soak up the sun and jam out to the music but we can all have our little ways of channeling our inner festival-goddess!

I have been waiting to use my new Bed|Stu bag until the time was just right, and yesterday was the time! Coachella recently had started and the sun was shining in Madison so I took out my leather distressed bag and paired it with my seasoned Bed|Stu boots :)

I was out and about for the full day, from biking to work, dinner and out at the terrace after dark so I wore a vintage tan wool blazer that paired nicely with the light grey of my dress. I also wore my new Express shades to help accent my Coachella theme :)

I found my Splendid dress at Rethreads on State Street and fell in love! The style and material is perfect for this time of year. The fabric is a Cotton Rayon blend and with its leg slit and three quarter sleeve top, it is perfect for spring days when the temperature can change in a matter of hours. I would definitely recommend a similar dress to be in every girls closet because it can be worn casually or more formally and for the reasons I talked about above!

I kept my jewelry simple and wore my bullet necklace from Papavier and a cute little thread necklace by One Thirty Jewelry. Both necklaces had hints of purple and were made by local artist out of
Milwaukee, WI.

April showers

It's been a bit rainy the past few days here in Madison, let's just say it's made us all a little sleepy and lazy! So for days like these you can look sassy and be comfy easily when you don't want to get out of bed... But have to.

I played around with layers today, those layers included leggings a long sleeve shirt and a thin long button down shirt with poka-dots. I also wore the leather jacket off and on again to give my outfit more of an edgy vibe and an extra layer of warmth and rain protection!

To help complete the edgy look I wore my blue rubber boots with a lug sole and silver hardware by Sixtyseven from (shoo). The boots are what I planned the rest off the look around, you know... with it raining and all! I added on the spiked leather purse for a little more spunk.

My dangerously cool cross body was purchased from Urban Outfitters a couple of seasons ago and I love using it as a going-out bag. Its smaller size and two pockets are great for holding all of the essentials. My Rings are made by yours truly and similar styles can be found here!

What do you wear to get you through these gloomy days? Your favorite sweatpants, or some cute rubber boots? Whatever it is I hope it leaves you looking good and feeling dry! :)
